Aspen Institute - Community Strategies Group.  A diverse group of community foundations and philanthropic and development organizations committed to strengthening and maintaining rural communities.

Aspen Institute - The Nonprofit Sector and Philanthropy Program.  NSPP seeks to improve the operation of the nonprofit sector and philanthropy through research, leadership education, and communication initiatives focused on critical nonprofit issues. NSPP's Nonprofit Sector Research Fund awards research grants to support studies that examine the nonprofit sector and philanthropy. Please click here for more information about the Fund.

Association of Small Foundations.  ASF is a membership organization of more than 3,000 foundations with few or no staff. It provides its members with peer learning opportunities, targeted resources and a collective voice in and beyond the philanthropic community.

Center for Rural Affairs.  Established in 1973 by concerned rural Nebraskans, CRFA works to strengthen small businesses, family farms and ranches, and rural communities. It has evolved into one of the nation's leading rural organizations known for its pioneering work to rebuild rural America and its national work to reform federal policy.

Center for Rural Strategies.  CRS seeks to improve economic and social conditions for communities in the countryside and worldwide through the creative and innovative use of media and communications. It presents an accurate and compelling portrait of rural lives and cultures to deepen public debate and to create a national environment that fosters positive change for rural communities.

Chronicle on Philanthropy.  The newspaper for the nonprofit world, COP presents articles on current issues about philanthropy and also offers an extensive classified section.

Community Action Partnership.  Established in 1971 as the National Association of Community Action Agencies, CAP is the national organization representing the interests of the 1,000 Community Action Agencies working to fight poverty at the local level.

Council on Foundations.  COF, a nonprofit membership association of 2,100 plus grantmaking foundations and corporations with more than $282 billion in assets, serves as the voice of philanthropy, works to create an environment in which it can grow and thrive, and provides members with the products and services they need to do their best work.

First Nations Development Institute.  Through a strategy of Educating Grassroots Practitioners, Advocating Systemic Change, and Capitalizing Indian Communities, e.g., Strengthening Native American Philanthropy Program, FNDI works to restore Native control and culturally-compatible stewardship of their assets - land, human potential, cultural heritage, or natural resources - and to establish new assets for ensuring the long-term vitality of Native communities.

Funding Exchange.  FE is a network of 16 public foundations and a national office that grants nearly $15 million annually to grassroots organizations working for social, racial, economic and environmental justice around the country. It is committed to the eradication of all social injustices, and makes grants to support the systemic change work of both experienced and developing grassroots organizations.

Grantmakers for Effective Organizations.  GEO, a coalition of grantmakers, is committed to building strong and effective nonprofit organizations. Understanding that grantmakers are successful only to the extent that their grantees achieve meaningful results, GEO promotes strategies and practices that contribute to grantee success. Believing that grantmakers can only succeed when the nonprofits they support achieve meaningful results, GEO provides philanthropy's change agents with the resources, ideas and connections they need to make the greatest contribution to the nonprofits they invest in.

Hispanics in Philanthropy.  HIP's mission is to strengthen Latino communities by increasing resources for the Latino and Latin American civil sector by increasing Latino participation and leadership throughout the field of philanthropy and to foster policy change to enhance equity and inclusiveness.

Housing Assistance Council.  HAC improves housing conditions for the rural poor, with an emphasis on the poor in the most rural places in the United States; offers services to public, nonprofit, and private organizations throughout the rural United States; and maintains a special focus on high-need groups and regions: Indian Country, the Mississippi Delta, farm workers, the Southwest border colonias, and Appalachia.

National Council of Nonprofit Associations.  A network of state and regional nonprofit associations with over 20,000 members, NCNA advances the vital role and capacity of the nonprofit sector in civil society, and supports and gives voice to state and regional associations of nonprofit organizations.

National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy.  NCRP promotes philanthropy for the public good, is responsive to people and communities with the least wealth and opportunity, and is held accountable to the highest standards of integrity and openness

National Network of Fiscal Sponsorship.  NNFS is dedicated to improving the practices, capabilities, and awareness of fiscal sponsorship in the nonprofit sector through education and advocacy. Fiscal sponsors are nonprofits that enable the movement of money from funders to project, ideas, organizations and activities. It works to ensure responsible use of the tool of fiscal sponsorship, to raise the understanding of fiscal sponsorship among the public and funders, to build best practices and to enhance the sector by building capacity to advance public benefit.

National Rural Assembly.  NRA is a movement of people and organizations devoted to building a stronger, more vibrant rural America. Its goal is to make the country stronger by improving the outlook for rural communities. The guiding principle is that an inclusive, prospering and sustainable rural America improves prospects for us all.

National Rural Development Partnership.  The NRDP acts as a non-partisan forum for identifying, discussing and acting on issues affecting rural America. It does not supplant, duplicate or compete with any program, but rather facilitates coordination and collaboration among its partners to improve implementation of rural programs.

National Rural Housing Coalition.  Established in 1969 by concerned rural community activists, public officials and non-profit developers, NRHC fights for better housing and community facilities for low-income rural people. It promotes and defends the principle that rural people have the right, regardless of income, to a decent place to live or an affordable home, clean drinking water and basic community services.

National Rural Funders Collaborative.  NCRP is a collaborative philanthropic initiative organized to expand resources for families and communities in regions of persistent poverty, especially areas where concentrations of poverty and communities of color overlap.

Native Americans in Philanthropy.  NAP promotes, facilitates and celebrates philanthropic giving to Native communities from both Native and non-Native donors. NAP also provides professional development opportunities and support for Native Americans working in the field of philanthropy.

Neighborhood Funders Group.  The NFG is a national network of foundations and philanthropic organizations that support community-based efforts to improve economic and social conditions in low-income communities. NFG provides information, learning opportunities, critical thinking and other professional development activities to its members.

New Ventures in Philanthropy.  A program of the Giving Forum designed to grow philanthropic giving, NV provides communities with tools and resources to increase the money available for pressing community needs. It creates and shares knowledge to attract new donors and to promote and build new giving.

Rural Assistance Center.  RAC was established in December 2002 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Rural Initiative as a rural health and human services "information portal." It helps rural communities and other rural stakeholders access the full range of available programs, funding and research that can enable them to provide quality health and human services to rural residents.

Rural Community Assistance Partnership.  RCAP operates as a national service delivery network of six regional partners and a national office in Washington, D.C. Every year, more than 200 RCAP specialists provide technical assistance, training and financial resources to more than 2,000 small rural communities in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Rural LISC.  Rural LISC was established in 1995 to build the capacity of resident-led rural Community Development Corporations (CDC's), increase their production and impact, demonstrate the value of investing in and through rural CDCs and make the resource and policy environment more supportive of rural CDC's and their work.

Rural Policy Research Institute.  Since 1990, RUPRI has provided unbiased analysis and information on the challenges, needs, and opportunities facing rural America. Its aim is to spur public dialogue and help policymakers understand the rural impacts of public policies and programs. A joint program of three universities and RUPRI is housed within the Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs.

Seventh Generation Fund for Indian Development.  An Indigenous non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and maintaining the uniqueness of Native peoples throughout the America, SGFID offers an integrated program of advocacy, small grants, training and technical assistance, media experience and fiscal management, lending our support and extensive expertise to Indigenous grassroots communities.

The 80-55 Coalition for Rural America.  The coalition is a nonpartisan group of advocacy, policy and research organizations dedicated to strengthening rural America. It works to educate policy-makers and key decision-makers on rural issues to ensure economic prosperity, increased cultural and social contributions and the preservation of open spaces that intrinsically define "rural."
