BSI's Endowment Development Advisory Committee provides background information regarding the field of endowment development, and advises BSI's board and staff about endowment establishment, management and development.

George Gault PhotoGeorge Gault <> George and his wife Linda have retired to Mesquite, NV, where he chairs Mesquite Regional Business, Inc., a local economic development company  tasked with recruiting new primary businesses to town. Previously, as President of the Wyoming Community Foundation (2003-2011), he helped grow its assets from $30 million to $70 million, with annual grantmaking of $3 million. George has also run his own consulting business (Gault  & Associates, LLC), specializing in community and economic development, and has served as  Managing Director of Administration for American Capital Access, the nation’s first single A rated bond insurance company. In addition, he was Executive Director of the Division of Community and Economic Development of the Wyoming Department of Commerce under former Governor Mike Sullivan. George has a BA degree in Modern European History from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Northern Colorado, in Greeley, CO. He holds the Certified Economic Developer designation from the International Economic Development Council and the Economic Development Finance Professional designation from the National Development Council.

 

Curt Larsen <>  Curt is Assistant General Counsel for Montana State Fund. In addition, Curt has worked in private practice, as state agency legal counsel, and in the law department of a large business corporation. He received his B.S. at Sioux Falls College, and his J.D. at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. In addition to his law degree, Curt earned an MPA degree from the University of Montana in 2004, and taught a class in the MPA program at MSU as an adjunct instructor. Curt is a former president of the Lewis and Clark County Community Foundation and has served on the boards of the Prickly Pear Land Trust, Helena Area Habitat for Humanity, serving as board chair for both of these organizations; Boyd Andrew and First Christian Church. Curt has served on the BSI board, is a long-time supporter of BSI, and is familiar with our work.

 

Mike Munck <> Mike is the former Executive Vice President of the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation, which was established in 1978 to encourage and manage philanthropic contributions to St. Peter's Hospital, and served in that position for over 24 years. Mike was a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Endowments and Philanthropy, which was instrumental in developing, passing and sustaining the Montana Charitable Endowment Tax Credit.   A well-experienced professional in endowment management and planned giving, Mike is generous with his time and expertise. For example at the 2012 Community Foundations of Montana Advisory Council’s convening, he presented Planned Giving - Digging the Well for Future Generations. This session described the strategy, tactics and tips for encouraging gifts to support a community foundation's ability to do good things for the future.
