Assessment Consultants:
The MNC Assessment Awards provide the recipient organizations with access to one of six highly experienced and skilled Montana-based consultants selected and managed by BSI. A consultant will work with the board and staff of each of these organizations to conduct an assessment process to determine organizational capacities, needs and priorities for improvement. The current Assessment Consultants are:
- Bob Buzzas, Civic Consulting (Bozeman):
- Bob has worked in the field of organizational, community and economic development through a variety of perspectives including as a nonprofit advocate, a community organizer, a state government employee, a staffer in the U.S. Senate, and as a private consultant working with a variety of government agencies, nonprofit organizations and foundations. Bob owns and operates Civic Consulting which he started in 1990 to help community organizations increase their capacity and develop new programs. Current and recent clients include the Montana HRDC Directors’ Association, the Montana Continuum of Care Coalition, the Turner Foundation and the Montana Preservation Alliance.
- Dona Hagen, Dona Hagen Consulting (Billings):
- With 30 years experience as a business owner, executive-level employee and volunteer leader, Dona has helped advance both large and small Montana nonprofit organizations. Her work has included strategic planning and organizational development, board training, annual, major and special event fund raising and major capital and endowment campaign management. Attending to both tasks and integral relationships, she brings to her work a deep knowledge of nonprofit management and fundraising.
- Rodney C. Kopp, Strategic Vision (Great Falls):
- Rod is an executive with success in generating revenue and profit growth within Fortune 500 and nonprofit organizations, startup and turnaround environments through exceptional leadership in Profit and Loss management, business development, strategic planning, resource development and marketing. He is the founder and principal of StrategicVision Consulting and works with both nonprofit and for profit organizations. Rod currently serves as CEO of the American Red Cross of Montana.
- Pamela J. Mavrolas, Mavrolas and Associates (Helena):
- Pam is a consultant and trainer with over 30 years of experience directing, managing and consulting with community-based nonprofits. She owns and operates the consulting firm of Mavrolas & Associates that works primarily with sustainable agriculture and food systems, environmental, and arts and cultural nonprofits. Specialty areas include: program and organizational evaluation; leadership training and development; strategic planning; program and campaign development; staff management and team building; coalition building; board training and development; and organizational problem solving. For over 10 years Pam has been a member of the Institute for Conservation Leadership’s Trainers and Consultants Network.
- Rick Robinson, New Paths Consulting (Lame Deer):
- Rick (Northern Cheyenne) is the Executive Director of The Healing Tree, Inc., a nonprofit organization located on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation working to build organizational capacity of Native American nonprofits including Boys & Girls Clubs in Montana and Wyoming. He was the founding director of one of the first Native American Boys & Girls Clubs in Indian Country, and has received several regional and national awards for his service to both Native American Clubs and the overall Boys & Girls Clubs of America movement. Currently, Rick is also leading the newly emerging Indian Nonprofit Alliance (INA) through the organizational development stages as INA works to advance Native American nonprofits in Montana. He is a board member on the Montana Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs and the Montana Nonprofit Association, was a graduate of Leadership Montana/Class of 2008.
- Josh Turner, Turner and Associates (Helena):
- Josh is the owner of Turner and Associates, an enterprise-development consulting firm founded in 1993. The firm works with private business, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to clarify enterprise goals, conduct current assessments, and develop positioning strategies including various types of plans. It designs and implements public relations and communications plans and campaigns, and composes and conducts market surveys and opinion polls. Turner and Associates also monitors, assesses, and evaluates projects, programs, and enterprises; and researches, composes, edits, and produces a wide range of publications.
