What People Say About Us
"The Organizational Assessment Award we received from BSI helped reveal impressive strengths and significant vulnerabilities, providing just the push our Board needed."

Kelly Rosenleaf, Executive Director

Child Care Resources, Inc.
Visionary Donors Wanted!

BSI seeks support from donors who appreciate the importance of our nationally-recognized, ground breaking solutions for building nonprofit philanthropy and support systems for Montana and other Philanthropic Divide states.

Individual donors provide BSI with essential "start up" funds to develop and launch new initiatives. These resources — often the most difficult money to raise — enable us to conduct the research, design and constituency development that is necessary to getting a project up and running. Once the momentum, defined leadership and some modest accomplishments are achieved, BSI can go to other funding sources to help take the project to the next level.

Big Sky Institute for the Advancement of Nonprofits Endowment Fund

In May of 2013, a permanent, unrestricted endowment fund was established by a Helena-area donor to support BSI’s mission to build rural communities by strengthening nonprofits and expanding philanthropy.

The endowment will:

  • Encourage gifts of all sizes by supporters who care about BSI’s mission;
  • Be a vehicle for memorial,  honorarium and legacy gifts;
  • Enhance BSI’s sustainability by increasing revenue diversification; and
  • Ensure that BSI can receive eligible contributions from donors wanting to take advantage of the Montana Charitable Endowment Tax Credit.

The effort to create, grow and manage the endowment is guided by BSI’s Endowment Development Advisory Committee.

Supporters of BSI can contribute to the endowment through:

  • Outright gifts of cash or securities;
  • Bequests in a last will and testament or bequest-like instruments such as a retirement plan and life insurance; or
  • Irrevocable planned gifts.

For more information about how you can help build BSI’s endowment, contact Mike Schechtman, Executive Director, at 406-443-5860.
