What People Say About Us
"BSI helped incubate our organization, build our capacity, and move us to independence. Throughout, they demonstrated a belief in our ability to succeed, a knack for knowing when to initiate ideas with the board, and a willingness to “fill in the blanks” when we most needed it."

Andi Rankin, Former President

Lewis and Clark County Community Foundation
Helena Development Roundtable Overview

The Helena Development Roundtable (HDR) is a very successful informal Helena-area network of executive directors, development directors, and fundraising staff that meet monthly*. HDR provides important opportunities for collegial networking and relationship building. HDR participants pick fundraising topics such as monthly giving programs and on-line fundraising, and share knowledge and resources. For staff who are new to Helena, HDR provides ready access to a talented and supportive peer network. HDR is a component of Big Sky Institute for the Advancement of Nonprofits’ (BSI) Helena Development Initiative that provides a replicable approach for community-based professional development in fundraising skills.

* Development professionals traveling to Helena from other communities are welcome to join us as “guests.”

Who Attends? Over 100 professionals from nonprofit organizations and consulting firms are invited to participate in each Brown Bag session, with approximately 20-25 people usually attending.

How Do I Get invited? Contact Mike Schechtman or call 406-443-5860.

When and Where are the meetings held? HDR meets on the first Tuesday of each month, except for July and August, from 11:45am to 1:15pm. The meeting will take place at Disability Rights Montana’s headquarters, 1022 Chestnut Street.

Contact BSI to confirm the date, time and meeting location.

Disseminate Materials: HDR participants are welcome to disseminate information about their organizations, programs, services, upcoming events (including fundraisers), job announcements, etc., by putting informational materials on the handouts table. Please Note: there is not enough time during the HDR meeting to allow for verbal announcements.
